About Anton McMurray

Anton Mc Murray creates unique pieces of sculpture on both an intimate and monumental scale.

Born in London, Anton moved to Australia with his family for an adventurous childhood in the hills east of Melbourne. He studied sculpture at the Victorian College of Arts and the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver, graduating with a Bachelors degree in 1998.

Since 1998, Anton has been creating sculptures for exhibition, public commission and private collection. He exhibits both nationally and internationally making exquisitely carved works in wood and bronze.

Anton Mc Murray's sculptural work has been influenced by traditional art and cultures throughout the world, from Papua New Guinea to indigenous tribes from the West Coast of Canada. He uses ancient themes dating back thousands of years, adapting them in a modern world. Each piece carries a deeper significance beyond the sculpted form.

Anton is currently exhibiting "Seed" as a part of the prestigious McClelland Sculpture Survey & Award until July 2013.
